Our Greatest Adventure: Week 21

2/19/2012

How far along: 21 weeks!

How big is baby: Baby is the size of a pomegranate and the length of a carrot. I’m not totally sure how those correlate. :) This week Baby's eyebrows and lids are present. As Baby’s digestive system prepares for the outside world, s/he is producing meconium. Also, interesting fact – if Baby Wagner is a girl she’s already got her lifetime supply of eggs in her womb. WOW!

Total weight gain: At our appointment, I was at about 10-11 lbs :-O

Maternity clothes: Yep, still wearing those. Hopefully I’ll be getting some new (to me) shirts now that Aidan is here. I also used some credit card points and got Husbandy and I gift cards to Old Navy. I’ll be treating myself once they get here.

Sleep: I had some rough nights this week where I woke up to go to the bathroom and then couldn't go back to sleep. My mind was RACING, I hate when that happens. I've also notice my left leg gets sore in the middle of the night because I’m constantly sleeping on that side. So, that’s pretty annoying.

Best moment of the week:

1) As mentioned in my previous blog, our nephew was born the day I turned 21 weeks. I already wrote about that, but it’s been so fun getting to hold him. :) He is so cute.

2) We had a Dr appointment!! Husbandy and I were so excited to get to see Baby again. We told the sono tech we (I) didn't want to find out if we are having a boy or girl that day, so she did all her measurements around the head, neck, upper body area, and then told us to look away. We also, found out Baby’s heartbeat is a healthy 153 bpm....which was about 5 bpm less than when we originally heard it. Dr B was a little surprised at how much weight I had gained since my last appointment, which was depressing. But, after I told him I had noticed swelling, he checked my leg, confirmed I was indeed swelling, and thought this was part of the reason. He didn't seem too concerned about the weight, so I guess that’s good? Either way, I’m very happy Baby is looking healthy.

Look at that sweet face :)

Baby feet!

Flashing us a smile
I count five fingers!

Food cravings: No big cravings.

Food aversions: Same. Sometimes I forget about my aversions. This week, I ordered a chicken sandwich and Bec was like, oh, do you like chicken now?! I then had to tell her I forgot I didn't like chicken when I ordered it. Oops! Luckily, the sandwich was pretty good.

Symptoms: I've always had problems with acne, but since I've been pregnant I've been surprised how clear my skin has been. Unfortunately, this week it made its way back. Not too bad, but I was sad to see it. I had back pain this week. I don’t think it really had anything to do with pregnancy, but I also can’t figure out if I had/have a kidney stone or if I pulled something. As mentioned above, I've been swelling. Sometimes I look at my feet and just laugh cause they look ridiculous.

Movement: Oh yes! Sometimes Baby starts to go crazy in there. Other times, I don’t feel him/her for a while. I of course prefer the first. :) Husbandy has yet to feel Baby, I don’t think he's patient enough.

Gender: At this point the sono tech and Dr B know, but we don’t! Even though Husandy keeps telling me, “I know, I just know.”

What I’m looking forward to: We are celebrating Husbandy’s 30th birthday this weekend! We've rented a Whirly Ball court, so it should be lots of fun. I probably won’t be participating seeing as bumper cars aren't really my cup of tea at the moment.

What I miss: Not making strange noises when trying to get up. I feel like it helps with the lack of abdominal muscles.

Next appt: March 21st (that seems so far)

Workout/Fitness: Hmm I didn't do big workouts this week. Husbandy and I did do lots of house work on Sunday, and one night I did some random squats. Certainly not enough to call it a work out, though. :-/

Our Greatest Adventure: Week 20!!

2/12/2013

How far along: 20 weeks! I can’t believe we are half way there!!

How big is baby: The length of a banana, I've also seen the size of a cantalope. Baby is swallowing more these days, which is good practice for the digestive system.

Total weight gain: I actually weighed myself this past week and I’m right around 10lbs. What frightens me is that throughout the 2nd trimester I’m supposed to gain an average of 1 lb a week. That’s a little weird to think about.

Maternity clothes: I don’t really understand this question anymore. Yes, I’m wearing them…I don’t think that’s going to change for a while. :)

Sleep: Sleep is as good as I can expect right now. I’m getting up to go to the bathroom of course, but I can fall back asleep pretty easily. I think I’ve also gotten past the needing to eat early in the morning. Baby let me sleep until 10:00 this past Saturday (which was wonderful); when I got up I was for sure hungry, but not so hungry that I got sick. I think that’s a win.

Best moment of the week: This technically happened during my 21st week, but I don’t really care. How can I not write about this?!?! MY NEPHEW IS HHHEEERREE! I’m going to let Becca tell her story if she decides to do so, but from my point of view it was a super fast labor. Husbandy and I got to the hospital Tuesday (2/19/13) morning around 6:20am, then got to see Becca, Jason, and precious Aidan. Holding him was definitely my favorite part of the week. I’m so happy he is here and I’m so happy things went well for Bec. Having him here makes me that much more excited and ready for Baby Wagner. Though, I would really like for him/her to stay in for at least 17 more weeks. :)

My first nephew, Aidan!!!

Food cravings: This week I really wanted pizza, but not just any pizza….Papa John’s pizza. I honestly haven’t had Papa John’s in years, but it was really good. Even Husbandy thought it was tasty.

Food aversions: Still pretty much the same, garli
c, sweets, and chicken.

Symptoms: I have some mild cramping sometimes. I’ll look down at my belly and I think I can feel it growing. I like to look back at how my sister was feeling during the same week of her pregnancy and she mentioned how much she was burping. I’m doing the same! I’ve read that it is something that happens during a pregnancy, but please excuse me if you happen to be near me. :P Also, I can tell I’m a little more moody sometimes.

Fun story…I was on my way home for work, driving on a pretty narrow two lane road. There was a lady running on my side of the road towards me and I figured she would move onto the curb/sidewalk. Well, she didn’t and I didn’t move either (don’t worry, I still had plenty of time if I needed to)…well then she puts her arms out and stares at me like “Hello??! Can’t you see I’m here” Well, yes, I can lady, but you know what else I see…. A sidewalk right by you on one side of the street and a beautiful running/biking trail that the city of Richardson was nice enough to build on the other! I also see this road they built for cars, like me. After moving over, passing her, and signaling to the sidewalk, I thought maybe I was being unreasonable. But then I asked Husbandy and my sister if they move for cars when they are running in the street. They said yes. So HA! They also said they use the running trail. Makes sense to me!!

Movement: Love love love that I can feel movements daily now. I’m still waiting for the moment Husbandy is lucky enough to feel them though. There was one time I thought I felt a steady stream of kicks, so I told Husbandy to quickly put his hand on my belly, but then Baby decided that was enough moving around. :(

Gender: Baby is definitely either a boy or girl, but we don’t know!

What I’m looking forward to: We have a sonogram at our next appointment! We're going to have to be careful at it cause we (ok, I) really don’t want to find out the sex at the appointment. After talking about it, we're under agreement finding out on our anniversary sounds like a good compromise. I know the sono tech will have experienced this before, so maybe she has a routine down where she takes a look, but then we get to see Baby’s upper half, heartbeat, and some movement. I’m going to have to make sure Husbandy doesn’t take sneak peak. :P

What I miss: Humus. That humus is still in the fridge at work, someone needs to eat it!

Next appt: February 21st! So close!!

Workout/Fitness: This weekend was so beautiful Husbandy and I had to get outside. We went for walks and did some straightening around the house. Still no signs of an actual nursery though.

Our Greatest Adventure: Week 19

2/5/2013

How far along: 19 weeks…wow.

How big is baby: The size of a mango. Baby is working hard on developing his/her five senses. Nerve cells for his/her sense of taste, hearing, sight and smell are developing in the brain. Baby is also developing a protective coating over his/her skin, called vernix caseosa. It's greasy and white and it can be seen at birth, though most sheds as delivery approaches.

Total weight gain: Ok, I'll actually check and fill this in a little later

 Maternity clothes: No change here.

Sleep: I haven’t fallen asleep at my desk this week, which I was pretty nervous about after being so tired last week. I’ve started to put an extra pillow in between my legs at night. This helps to take the pressure off my lower back and give support to my belly. So far I’m liking it.

Best moment of the week:

1) Husbandy and I hung out with friends we haven’t seen in a long time this week. It was so good getting to talk to them, see their beautiful new home, and catch up. Hopefully it won’t be as long in between the next time we see them.

2) On Sunday, Husbandy and I went to see my brother, SIL, and niece. I haven’t gotten to spend much time with Brooklyn lately, and soon she’s going to have to split her time with me (:P) with her new cousin, and it was so great! We all went to the park and I just loved seeing her having so much fun sliding and swinging. I should have gotten a picture of her sweet smile.

Food cravings: I ate yummy porkchops again this week but still no major cravings.

Food aversions: Chicken, garlic, sweets (sometime sweets are ok…so every now and then I break)

Symptoms: I had pretty bad heartburn. Thankfully, it just stuck around for one day. I also noticed some swelling in my feet this week. I asked Husbandy if I was seeing things, and he agreed that they looked a little swollen. My body went through some crazy things this week, which I won’t expand upon. I will say that Husbandy was a champ. One day I came home in tears, cause I didn’t know what was going on and he was there to assure me things were ok. He was also super helpful and did things that really proved his love for me. Not that he needed to prove his love, I already knew all about that. I love you, Babe!

Movement: I look forward to feeling the little movement during the day. You just never know when they are coming! What I’m feeling just has to be Baby. This weekend, I went for a couple of days thinking I hadn’t felt anything, which of course made me nervous. My SIL reassured me things are fine. Lo and behold, Monday I started feeling Baby again. Maybe s/he was turned inwards, who knows.

Gender: Don’t know :)

What I’m looking forward to: My first nephew is due any day now!!! His official due date is the 16th, but every time I get a text from my sister, I’m expecting it to say Aidan is on his way. :) I cannot wait to meet the little guy, it’s been so fun and inspiring seeing my sister prepare to be a mom. I know both her and Jason are going to be wonderful parents, they’ve done so much to get ready for both labor and raising a child. Please keep all three of them in your prayers as they continue to emotionally, physically, and spiritually prepare.

What I miss: I saw hummus in the fridge at work and it made me really want some.

Next appt: February 21 (preeeetty excited about this one)

Workout/Fitness: I did pretty good this week. I did some leg lifts here and there and Husbandy and I went on a couple walks. Not to mention all the running around at the park we did.

Our Greatest Adventure: Week 18

1/29/2013

How far along: 18 weeks

How big is baby: Baby is the size of a sweet potato, isn't that cute. :) Baby is busy twisting and turning in my tummy. Baby is also yawning, sucking, hiccuping, and swallowing.

Total weight gain: I really don’t weigh myself, so I’m going to guess still around 6 lbs

Maternity clothes: Same….maternity pants are comfy and I have to be creative with my shirts.

Sleep: I was so tired this week. I don’t know if it was the fact my body knew I could sleep if I wanted to or what, but I felt exhausted all week. I’m still waiting for the burst of energy I’m supposed to be getting. At night, nothing has really changed.

Best moment of the week: VACATION! Being in Florida was so fun and relaxing. Husbandy and I had nothing planned, and just enjoyed our time with his family and especially with our new niece. Not being on the go was something I had been looking forward to. So much better than going to work! On Thursday, we had a surprise birthday party for Husbandy’s Grams. This was really nice because we got to see family from his mom’s side. Our most stressful part of the vacation was our drive home. We flew out there, but then rented a budget truck to drive back because we had some furniture and other random items to bring back to Dallas. On Saturday we got up bright and early and left at 7:00am. Obviously, my body was not ok with this, so I was super tired. I tried to stay awake with Husbandy, but ended up falling asleep for a while. For lunch, we were lucky enough to find a Chic-fil-a which made me very happy. I offered to drive several times, but Husbandy wouldn't let me. I think he was nervous of me being behind the wheel of such a large truck, he could also probably tell I was tired. After being on the road for 12 hours, we stopped in Vicksburg, Mississippi. We quickly ate dinner at a BBQ restaurant (they have some work to do to compete with Texas BBQ) recommended by the lady at the front desk and went to sleep. We were literally both asleep before 9:00. Sunday morning, we were on the road by 8:00. You would think with all the sleep I got, I wouldn't be tired….buuuut I was. I tried not to sleep, and was successful for a while, but then ended up getting some shut eye. Major major props to Husbandy who got us home safe and sound by 2:00. As soon as we got home, we unpacked everything, returned the truck, then went to Mass at 5:00 (What?!? We missed some of the Super Bowl!? Shame….. :P). Even though we had a couple offers to watch the game at friend’s houses, we ended up going home because we were both so tired. Getting up for work the next day was a bummer.

Husbandy's got this dad thing down
Admiring her (favorite) uncle
This happened

Food cravings: Still really liking salads. Husbandy’s uncle made an awesome salad at the family get together on Thursday. It was so so good. I also got to eat a lot of fish in FL. My FIL was even nice enough to buy me sea bass one night. YUM. That is probably one of my favorite fish to eat, but rarely get it, cause it’s pricey.

Food aversions: Chicken. What is it with chicken that leaves such a terrible taste in my mouth?!

Symptoms: I'm pretty sure I’m feeling Baby more and more. One morning at breakfast I felt a pretty strong (relatively) bump, it caught me a little off guard. There are other times, I think what I’m feeling is Baby, but I’m not 100% sure. I can also feel my tummy growing, it’s weird. As mentioned, I was super tired this week too. Lastly, late in the 18th week, going into the 19th, I started to feel more nausea. Not to the point that I got sick, but more than I would like.

Movement: Husbandy was lying on my tummy this week and I told Baby to give a hard kick so their daddy could feel him/her, but s/he didn't listen. Can’t wait to know for sure what I’m feeling is Baby and especially have Husbandy feel/see movement!

Gender: We don’t know.

What I’m looking forward to: Well, now that vacation is over this is harder to answer. We are hanging out with friends we haven’t seen in a while this weekend and I’m pretty excited about it.

What I miss: Knowing for sure what I can and can’t eat. I found myself googleing a lot in FL if I could eat certain fish. How am I supposed to know their respective mercury levels?

Next appt: February 21st!

Workout/Fitness: I did leg lifts in the hotel. I was proud of myself, though I don’t think my tummy liked the mix of my prenatal and leg lifts. We also did some walking around in FL, but I’m still not real good at this workout thing if you ask me.
