A Year in Photos: Week 28

Day 193

I've been making these muffins for Reese lately. It seems to help the morning go smoother if she has something to eat and these are quick and easy. I should also point out how adorable this dress is! I was surprised to actually get it on Reese because she definitely prefers shorts, but I convinced her by saying we were going to see Jesus.

Day 194

Mimi tried two times to get Reese shoes at Old Navy for her birthday, but they never seemed to fit right. So, Reese ended up with this shirt instead. I wanted to send a picture to Mimi of her wearing it, so I said, "Can you smile for Mimi?" and Reese shouted "YES!" then gave me this smile.

Day 195

Tuesday night we went to the grocery store, but stopped to eat dinner first (it's really hard to go shopping and cook in the same night). Reese's chicken was hot, so what do you do when things are hot? Blow on it!

Singing on the way to dinner.

Day 196

Reese was in a really good mood in the morning, so I took the opportunity to snap some pictures. I love this early morning photo shoot.

That evening we took a walk to our neighbors while Husbandy cooked dinner. I love this picture of Aunt Becca being the awesome aunt and mama that she is.

The kiddos playing in the car. Reese could play in the car for hours, so she was in heaven, even if Zilla was sitting in the driver's seat.

Day 197

Merit had a company picnic at White Rock Lake on Thursday. Turns out we have several talented people in the office as all entertainment was put on by employees. My favorite was the CEO dressed as Madonna, but the Smells Like Teen Spirit remake was a close second.

Day 198

Reese is very much into the phrase "my do it!" and part of that means she wants to pick out her outfits. On this particular morning she wanted these and only these pants on. So, off to school she went in her pajama pants. Crazy, girl...but it's not worth a fight.

Later that evening our neighbors came down for a swim. As we were cleaning up from dinner we looked outside and saw that Reese and Zilla had found pool equipment and were cleaning the backyard with it. They were having so much fun working together and it was so fun watching them!

Day 199

When we got home from swim class we saw this huge butterfly sitting on the garage door. Reese loved looking at it and watching it fly away. It must have been the first time we ever described anything as huge, because now any time we say it, Reese mentions the butterfly.

That evening Zilla and Annabelle came over to swim in the pool and play. I love thee kiddos!

Eating some delicious fruit outside. For some reason, Reese would take one bite out of a strawberry and put back. Annabelle knew the strawberry still had goodness left, so she would finish them up for her. Now that's team work!

All smiles at dinner. :-)

A Year in Photos: Week 27

Day 186

We bought this water table for Reese's birthday and she LOVES it. We're not surprised considering how she just plays in the water when we ask her to wash her hands. I'd say we play with the table at least three times a week.

Day 187

Reese decided the floor was more comfortable than her bed. I just knew she was going to wake up in the middle of the night and wonder where she was, but she actually slept great on the floor all night.

Day 188

I spent Tuesday night working and watching my little sleep as Dada decided he needed to go to the ER. Wait, what? It sounds worse than it ended up being, but it was a long night. Thank you to me (pregnant) sister who came over around 1:00 am so I could go pick up a drugged Husbandy at the ER.

Day 189

Reese likes us to lay down with her before she falls asleep at night. I kind of blame Husbandy because he did it one night to be nice and now Reese has decided it's part of her bedtime routine. Either way, isn't this a sweet picture. :-)

Day 190

We went and saw a movie!!! Yes, it was a movie that's been out a for a while, but that just means the tickets were super cheap. Thanks to Mimi who watched Reese for us with just a few hours warning.

Day 191

Reese wasn't in a very good mood Friday night and I was kind of over it after an hour long tantrum. For dinner she wanted "soup," which was really the water we used to steam broccoli. Sure, kid, go for it.

Somehow she did perk up a couple hours later when The Sweet Tooth Fairy arrived at our house. I linked to an old article, but she's still doing the same sweet thing! We were hand brought banana pudding parfaits and they were delicious!

Day 192

We skipped swim class Saturday morning so we could attend Jaxton's birthday party! Jaxton is in Reese's class at school and he was the first classmate that Reese ever prayed for during our nighttime prayers. These two apparently play together quite a bit at school and Jaxton's parents hear a lot about Reese. Young love.

After nap we headed out to celebrate Mini B's birthday! This was Reese's first time at a splash pad and I didn't know how it would go since she doesn't love being splashed. However, with help from her cousin she braved the splashes (and other kids) and had a blast! Happy birthday, Mini B, we love you very much!!

A Year in Photos: Week 26

Day 179

Reese helped mommy and Mimi make "The Salad" at Sunday night dinner...and LOVED it. She was such a good helper too. :-)

Day 180

I snapped this right before going to bed. There's nothing like having a bed to yourself (and your "babies"/blankets/books....).

Day 181

Monday night we headed to Shady's to watch the US Women's National team take on Germany in the World Cup. Reese wasn't in the best mood when we left the house, but perked up a little when she saw Michael (not shown in the picture...her smile). She did really well and we were able to watch the whole game out on the patio. US beat Germany which put us in the finals!

Day 182

As daddy brought Reese into the house she saw his cereal on the counter and swiped it. I'd say she was pretty proud of herself.

Day 183

Reese has learned rather quickly how to climb out of her bed. There have been a few nights where I wake up as she starts crying and see her climb out. By the time Husbandy or I make it into the room, she's laying on top of the crib sides. Thankfully she's never fallen, but obviously it was time for us to switch to a big girl bed.
I wanted to start the transition on a Friday as I anticipated long nights of Reese leaving her room and us telling her to go to bed, so the three day weekend for the 4th of July was perfect. The first night she did pretty well. She went to her door three times, would touch it, then run back to her bed. After the third time Husbandy was going to video it, but of course she stopped. Nap time on Friday went ok, because we filled the morning with activity (see below). Friday night went ok as well. Since then I think she's more comfortable with testing her limits and things have not been as good. Saturday night she woke up around 2:00am and opened her door to come get us.  We ended up letting her sleep in our bed, which sounds fine, but really it means no sleep for momma. Transitions are so much fun!

Day 184

Husbandy and I both had Friday off, so we decided to make the most of it and take Reese to the Dallas World Aquarium. I don't know what it is about having a Friday off together and going to do something. We could have easily done this on a Saturday, but clearly that's not as fun.
It took what seemed like forever to convince Reese to get dressed in the morning. We promised her she would be seeing lots of animals and named a few, but she wouldn't budge. Our window of making it out there and back in time for some sort of nap was closing, but she finally got dressed.
Once we were there she loved seeing all the animals. I would say she most enjoyed looking at the fish from different parts of the world, being in the tunnel and watching sharks swim over us, and the "mingos" (flamingos). We had lots of fun, but we probably won't make it a habit as the aquarium is kind of expensive.

Day 185

Happy 4th of July! I wanted to go to the neighborhood parade, but Reese had swim class and I know we're going to miss it next week. After swim class the Fry's came over to swim and eat lunch. Then we took a break for naps and they came over again for more swimming and burgers!! Mimi also joined in the fun that afternoon. It was a pretty laid back 4th, but I loved spending it with family.

Thanks goodness I caught Reese singing twinkle twinkle in her bed a couple weeks ago. In what seems like overnight, she's out grown "how wawa how wawa" and graduated to "how I wonder."
