A Year in Photos: Week 13

Day 82

Family dinner! Clearly Bryan's Godchildren just can't get enough of him.

 Day 83

My sweet girl at daycare. I love that little tooth peeking through.

 Day 84

My sister sent me this picture of Aidan that made my day! Look at that cute smiling face!!

 Day 85

Wednesday night we just hung out at home.

 Day 86

Husbandy had to work late on Thursday, so after dropping Reese off with my dad and Cindy I went up to his work and we ate a quick dinner at Chiloso. Afterwards, I went to get Reese and he went back to work. :(

Day 87

My company offered me and a few other girls tickets to the Stars game! We had great seats in a box and the Stars won 7-3....it was a really fun night. Reese got to hang out with Mimi, so I knew she was in good hands.

 Day 88

Reese woke up a little early, I think her teeth were hurting. An hour an a half and Tylenol later she fell back asleep for about an hour. Here she is reading The Hungry Caterpillar before her morning nap.

I had to add this one. The day was so beautiful we took the kids to the park. Aidan loooved swinging. Reese didn't participate as Husbandy was at home and I didn't want him to miss her first slide experience. Gah, these kids.

A Year in Photos: Week 12

Day 75

TND was at our house since Mimi was already over here. Here's Mimi with her sweet granddaughters. :D

 Day 76

Reese and I wearing our green for St Patrick's day!

 Day 77

It was finally nice weather, so the kids got to play outside at daycare. I just can't get enough of these pictures throughout the day!

 Day 78

Our trip is booked! Husbandy and I will be celebrating our 5th anniversary in Mexico with the Fry's! I'm so excited for the trip...just not focusing on leaving Reese for 4 nights.

Day 79

Just chillin' at Texas de Brazil, celebrating daddy's birthday a couple weeks late with Grandpa and Cindy.

Day 80

Friday night we had an extra special GND because two former members were in town fro Houston. While there, we did a favorite things game. Basically you bring four of the same thing (your favorite thing), as does everyone else. There are then four rounds of "shopping" for new favorite things, drawing number for the order each round. It was a lot of fun and I came home with soap, nail polish, a coozie, and coffee!

Day 81

We had lunch Saturday afternoon with my grandparent's (Reese's great-grandparents) and Aunt Rebecca and cousin Aidan. They love seeing their great-grandkids, as do all the other folks living in their senior living community.

Reese: Nine Months

How Old: 9 months

Weight/Height: We have a tiny little girl on our hands. At her 9 month appointment she was 15lbs 13oz and 26.25 inches. That puts her in the 12% and 7% respectively.

Baby Clothes: Not surprising that she still fits in 6 and 6-9 month clothing and size 3 diapers.

Milestones: Still trying lots of different foods, and we’re trying to incorporate things that aren’t pureed. She wants to be able to feed herself, but she gets frustrated when the food isn’t as easy to pick up as puffs and then doesn’t dissolve in her mouth. Onward we shall go though, cause she has to learn.
Reese has been much better with tummy time this month (see story below). I’m so glad cause she really needs to learn how to crawl. She’s really good about spinning while on her tummy and scooting backwards. We’ve seen her get up on all fours a few times, but it’s usually when she can use my arm/leg to help. She’s kind of rocked, but no actual crawling yet.
I've noticed a lot of different sounds coming out of Reese this month! For a long time she would just say "aaahhhhh" but this month we've heard mamas, dadas, and bahbahs. She seems to really like to talk when she's laying on the changing table. I get to hear all about her night and day at daycare. She's a very busy little girl. :)
Reese is very aware of her surroundings. Once during nap time I heard strange noises coming from the monitor. Turns out Reese found the cord from the monitor's camera that hangs near her crib. I took a quick video as Husbandy made his way into the room to make sure the camera didn't fall. Apparently it was hanging by a thread. We've now moved the cord so she can't reach it.

Special Outings: This month was filled with birthdays! We went to two 1st birthdays. The first was for one of my college roommate’s little girl (Anna) and the other was for Aidan! Both were done very nicely. Reese especially loved the bubbles Anna gave her as a party favor:

Becca went all out with a Dr Suess theme and had everything from green eggs and ham to cat in the hat hats and a Thing 1 Thing 2 prop for people to take photos in. Needless to say, it put some pressure on me for Reese’s first birthday. :P

We also went to Frankies for our friend Michael’s birthday. It was Reese’s first out of what I’m sure will be many times there. With all these birthdays we also treated ourselves to Sweet Firefly a couple times. That was a nice treat since we hadn’t been there is a while.

Highlights of the Month: I think the highlight of this month has been watching Reese play with her toys more. She is very interested in unstacking blocks if you stack them in front of her and she’s began to put toys in buckets instead of always just taking them out.

Baby’s Routine: Everything has pretty much stayed the same, except we’ve cut out the feeding when I get home.

Wake up: 6:30-7:00am
Nap: 9:00 am-11:00 am
Eat (solids and milk)/Play: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Nap: 1:00pm - 3:00 pm
Eat Play: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Short nap sometime during this time: 5:45 – 6:30
Eat solids: 7:00
Bath time/play: 7:30pm – 8:30 pm
Feed and put to sleep: 8:30-9:00pm

Baby’s Favorite Food: She looooves Puffs and Mum Mums. They are almost like candy. She is at the point where she wants to be able to feed herself, so getting her to eat the puree is hard. But, because she thinks all hand-fed food should dissolve, she doesn’t really like real food either. So, that’s our current struggle…getting her to eat things other than puffs at dinner. I don’t think flavored air is sustainable. :)

Baby’s Favorite Activity: Reese loves being outside. I’m so glad it’s getting warmer so she can go outside at daycare. I’m also excited about taking her to the park after work.

Baby’s Favorite Toy: She has this walkie talkie looking thing that she really likes. Especially when it sings this song (I love how she taps her leg):

Here's her other favorite song:

Big Changes: The biggest change has been the time that's spent on her tummy. I finally broke the code as to why she cried every time we laid her on the rug. One morning I was changing her clothes on the ottoman and she started to roll over to reach the remote. So, I quickly brought her to the ground with the remote to see if she would do it again. No! She just cried. I thought it was so strange that she would roll on the ottoman, but when I brought her to the rug she just screamed. In the corner of our room we have laid down the little foam mats, so I decided to try to lay her on it and see if she still cried. Lo and behold she was perfectly happy. Turns out little miss does not like the feeling of our rug! Gah, I wish I would have known this months ago…. Now she just plays and plays on her tummy.

Mommy Journal:
It’s official, Reese is now drinking formula. About a week before she turned 9 months, I decided we weren’t going to make it on just the breast milk we had, so we started the transition. One Saturday I gave her a bottle of pure formula and she drank it, no problem. I was kinda surprised she wasn’t turned off by it, but also happy that the transition wasn’t going to be hard. Well, we tried to give her formula two other times that weekend and she wanted nothing to do with it! We decided to slowly start mixing in formula with the breast milk and that seemed to work. I actually haven’t completely given up pumping at work, so she’s still getting some breast milk at daycare, but most of her bottles are formula. I can’t decide if I haven’t given it up because I mentally can’t do it, or if I would really get uncomfortable. A few days after her 9 month, I did transition to pumping once a day. I’m also still nursing her in the morning and at night. I think I’ll continue to do that until I’m sure that she’s not getting enough.

I admit that part of the reason I’m still pumping at work is because I just don’t want to give it up! There are girls at work with one year olds that are still pumping and I am just in awe! It kinda makes me wonder if I’m just not a great milk producer. I did have a hard time with my milk coming in when Reese was born, so I did a lot of pumping, eating oats, drinking mother’s milk tea, and taking Fenugreek. I wonder if I’ll have to do that all again when we have a second.
Reesearoo, this next month we are really going to try to fatten you up! It makes mommy a little nervous that you are so tiny, even though I’ve been told by multiple people (including a neonatal dietitian) that you’re ok. Hopefully you get the whole chewing thing down cause Dr F said we can start giving you eggs, cheese, yogurt, chicken salad, tuna salad, rolls… You’re growing up so fast.

Overall, I would have to say this has been one of my favorite months. Seeing you play all by yourself is so fun and I have a feeling you’re going to be crawling soon. You are so precious to your daddy and I and we love you to pieces!

A Year in Photos: Week 11

Day 68

Saturday night we had a sleepover with the Fry's. Here are the cousins playing together Sunday morning. I just can't get over how much I love these two.

Day 69

On Friday we were surprised with Tiff Treats from our manager for employee appreciation day (it's a real thing). I ended up bringing some home for Husbandy, but forgot the milk on my desk. Here it is on Monday morning, gross. It quickly made its way to the trash.

Day 70

Sweet Reese at daycare. I love getting pictures of her during the day.

Day 71

Bec and I did a late night workout with Jackie. Once both of the kiddos were asleep I went down to her house, another perk of living so close!

Day 72

I got to spend Thursday morning with Reese before her 9 month dr appointment. She loooves seeing herself on my phone.

Day 73

We went to dinner with the Poulsen's on Friday. Kate loves baby Reese. Isn't Kate's smile the best. :)

Day 74

Husbandy and I spent Saturday in Ft Worth as a birthday celebration for him! We stayed the night at the Hilton downtown which was really nice cause we walked everywhere we wanted to go. We first went to dinner at Del Friscos then headed to Four Day Weekend, an improv comedy show. Sunday morning we got up and went to Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral then headed home. We missed our little Reesearoo, but it was good to spend time one on one.

A Year in Photos: Week 10

 Day 61

We celebrated Auntie Lauren's birthday at dinner! You can never go wrong with snickers cake. :)

 Day 62

Yet ANOTHER ice day, so I stayed at home with Reese as daycare was closed. By that night the ice had melted and Husbandy and I went to dinner and the Stars game with my cousin and his wife. Definitely a fun night, especially cause the Stars pulled out a win.

Day 63

My meal for fat Tuesday.

Day 64

Our meatless meal for Ash Wednesday was shared with the Fry's.

Day 65

Reese has never seen a bath she didn't like. Ok, maybe once or twice when she had a diaper rash. I don't think the warm water felt nice...that was a record setting bath time.

Day 66

Playing with my sweet girl before she went to bed. The next day I found out a baby shower that I thought was on Saturday was actually on Friday night. Such a shame cause look at how good of mood Reese was in!

Day 67

Kind of an odd sight for mommy, but Reese is taking to formula pretty well (right now it's a mix of formula and breast milk). She holds a bottle really well which is nice, but does not want to be held while drinking it.

A Year in Photos: Week 9

Day 54

Sunday was such a beautiful day, I took Reese for a walk. She loves being outside.

 Day 55

Nothing like doing laundry with this happy little girl!

Day 56

After work I headed to GND and ate way to many of these little suckers!

Day 57

Husbandy and I were lazy and I picked up some BBQ on my way home from work. We really need to get better about planning our meals for the week. We did it for a couple weeks and it worked out great, unfortunately we fell out of habit.

Day 58

Thursday morning I stayed home with Reese because daycare was closed due to death in the family. Of course I loved being home watching Reese play with her taggie. She loooves tags, but can definitely tell the difference between this blanket and one on a doll/shirt/pillow....

Day 59

Friday night we went to twisted root with some friends. The weather was really nice so we spent some time outside afterward. We love spending time with these guys!

Day 60

All of those toys and she decides to back herself in the corner and play with a wipe. Silly girl.
